Singer!

After a long time I tried out soft pastels! the picture i saw of this teen age sensation made me sit up and try out the soft pastels...had some problems with the colours vanishing (a bit) when the fixative was sprayed...but the experience was enjoyable!

Very nice. I like all the deep shadows.

I've never tried pastels. Still trying to learn to paint with oils.

Mr Anand, this is very impressive. The whole piece has a feeling to it that I think you captured so well. Pastels are not that easy I've tried my hand at it.. but go with just the pencil work..
Thanks for your comment. its what keeps us going !

Mr. Anand, you've captured a good part of this work.. Pastels are not the easist, and this is an excellent piece. ... I'd like to see more. thanks for the comment on my blog . Its what pushes us to do more.

Pastels were the perfect medium for this scene. They add to the atmosphere! Good job!

This is really unusual and very good! :0) I had the same trouble with pastels losing there brightness when spraying them. What I do now, is very lightly spray at each stage, but I don't fix the top layer at all. I have also heard the spraying the reverse of the paper works - but I haven't tried that myself :0)

This is fabulous. The theatrical lights have come out so nicely. Pastels was the ideal medium.

Mr Anand, This is a very effective painting, the minute it came up on my screen, I got a little chill.

I worked in pastel for years and fixatives are always a problem..they destroy the beautiful shimmer of pastel. The trick is to use them as seldom as possible, and as Sandra said, never on the last layer. Knock off the loose pastel by shaking the support..you really don't need that much fixative, use it lightly.
