Let's Take a Break

Bullock carts like this was a common sight in India, though now the tyres have replaced the wooden wheels. It used to be fun taking a ride on them as they navigate through the country side. Breaks like this to give rest to the bullocks was a common sight. Watercolour on handmade paper 21.5 x 15 inch. #watercolour #watercolor #aquarelle #bullockcart #artbymra #landscape

Serene Ganges

There is a certain calmness that descends on early morning scenes in the ganges.  I have tried to capture that serene surrounding through this painting.  i find these water scenes one of the most difficult to paint in watercolours.  From a reference photograph on the internet.  Watercolours on 300 gsm paper 12 x 9 inch.  #watercolour #watercolor #aquarelle #ganges #artbymra

Rain Tree Boulevard

These beautiful shady trees line up many roads in Bangalore and are a welcome signature-scene! They are in their full bloom now and the pink flower wither away only to give a beautiful brownish ochre tinge to the tree branches and the roadsides. Scintillating Sails

It's been a long time since i painted a sea scape, and i thought that the scintillating reflection would be a good challenge in watercolours. With just 3 colours and a dash of the 4th colour, i was able to paint this. I was still nervous with the washes which is why i chose the smaller size! :-) water colour on 300 gsm CP paper 10 x 7.5 inch #watercolour #watercolor #aquarelle #seascape #artbymra

Winter to Summer (Leh)

There is something in the air of Leh that evokes strong desires to capture and encapsulate the scenes there, be it winter or summer! This is a scene i captured on my camera during the unsuccessful trip to Pangong lake, so decided to drive up to Hemis Monastery. I have added water to the dry stream to make the winter look like summer! #artbymra #watercolour #watercolor #leh #aquarelle #landscape

On controls!

For me close formation is the most thrilling and challenging flights. It needs skill and most importantly utmost faith, confidence and trust on your leader/wingman. This is a formation flight during the inauguration of Aeroindia 2017 on 14 Feb, in which i was on controls as No.2 in the LCH formation, part of a 13 helicopter HAL helicopter formation. Mahabalipuram Beach

The shore temple at Mahabalipuram is a visual treat be it morning or evening. I painted this because the evening scene is challenging, and i had to paint the shore temple without highlighting it, yet make it prominent and then keep the focus on the beach and fishermen... Hope i have succeeded. water colour on handmade paper 400gsm 22 x 15"

Headmaster!

Headmaster: When i hear "headmaster," only one face flashes in front of me and that is of Dr Clement Felix who was headmaster of Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School (MCCHSS) for almost 2 decades from 1973 to 1992. Every time we from class of 82' met at chennai it was a ritual to visit him, before our get-to-getter started. He was a true mentor during our formative years, and each one of us had an anecdote to narrate, to substantiate this. He was revered by one and all of our times! He will be remembered forever.
