Flame in Tea Garden!

A change from the normal greens i always liked.   It was fun to step out of my comfort zone! Referenced from a screenshot of a picture from the web.  I liked the contrasting flame red colour and the viridian green shrubs.  Water colour on handmade 350gsm paper, 22 X14 inch.

Back waters

Back waters have a distinct charm of their own.  I tried to capture the haziness and the light scattering through the coconut groves with this painting which was referenced from a news paper photograph in Times of India. I am not very impressed with the layering that i had to do on the trees, and the water..should have been able to paint it in one go!  May be next time when I revisit this subject :-)  Water colour on 300 gsm handmade paper 22X14 inch.

Hanuman Dhoka-Durbar square

I was in awe seeing the architectural beauty of Nepal.  This is a glimpse from one of the many Durbar squares at Kathmandu valley..this one is near Hanuman Dhoka.  Still a long way to go before i get the balance between light and shade perfectly.  Watercolour on Brustro 300gsm 16X12 inch.

Nilgiris(blue mountain)

 

Picked this subject from a photograph of my classmate in facebook!  It's from the Nilgiris mountains..and it was challenging to catch the depth.  Goofed up a little with the washes and had to redo many layers, as well as the bushes in foreground.   Water colour on 300gsm Fabriano 12X16 inch.
