Elks in Velvet

When i saw a photograph captured by Somesh Nagthan of the Elks at Yellowstone, i knew i would paint it some day. Yesterday after half an hour of sifting through my computer i found it. What a breathtaking scene, the elks are cautious and alert, their look tells it all.  During spring the new antlers that are growing on the elks are covered 'in velvet'.
