Lone Farmer
Lone Farmer..this painting is dedicated to all farmers toiling for our basic needs. During childhood i used to eagerly look forward to run errands for my uncles working in the fields, with a cup of coffee or tea(one likes coffee and the other likes tea!) and tiffin. Wish i could have captured this at that time! Sometimes TIME stands still :-) Water colour on 400gsm hand made paper 20 x 14 "

Tranquility
I was carried away by the tuscany landscape when i saw it the first time. This has been in my to-do list for a long time. With my 9 days 9 paintings challenge i thought it was the right time to do this hills- view as the celebration of Navrathri ( nine nights). 9/9 of Navratri series. Water colour on Brustro 300gsm cold pressed paper 16 x 12 inch

Hues of Sun
3/9 of Navratri challenge....A seaside beach scene, is always a feast to the eyes, be it sunrise of sunset! the hues that sun showers on us it mesmerising! Water colour on Brusto cold pressed 300gsm paper, 16 x 12 inch
the smaller version is the quick paint (8 x 6 inch) i did before the bigger one. I am posting this because a lot of the spontaneity is lost when you make bigger paintings! Anyway nothing like hand made paper for water colour sceneries.

Wood Walk!
2/9 challenge of Navrathri--Water colour on handmade 300gsm paper 14 x 10 inch. Lost out on colour harmony due to some adventurous green! But checked out my black and white..and to my surprise the values were not bad at all! Some consolation :-)

Wild River
I painted this from a reference video grab from a movie on TV. i liked the scene because of the sparkling water and the myriad of colours that filter through the trees. Made some changes to the background and brought in the sky which was non-existent in the video grab. Water colour on 400gsm hand made paper 22 x 14 inch. Before painting this i made a smaller version of size 8x6 inch study, which looked more spontaneous and more transparent.

Hogenakkal falls
The mystic nature of waterfalls presents an excellent topic for painting. Here i have tried to capture Hogenakkal falls in Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu. I drew the inspiration to attempt this after seeing a demo of a Dhuadhar falls painted by Bijay Biswaal at Chitrakala Parishath (Bangalore) sometime back. Water colour on 270gsm hand made paper 22 x15 ". painted from a reference photograph from internet.

Banana flower
The exotic banana flower is used extensively in South Indian and South east Asian cuisine. It evokes memories from my childhood when we used to peel the flower and separate the edible portion of the flowerets. It is full of nutrients. Banana plant is one in which all the parts, the fruits, stem, flower and the leaves are useful. I painted it more for its vibrant colours! watercolour on hand made paper 10 x 14 ".

Rain tree / 5 o'clock tree
En Plein Air, from the comfort of my balcony last Sunday! the huge tree is called Rain tree or 5 o'clock tree as the leaves close in the evening or on rainy/cloudy days. The huge tree has beautiful pink flowers which are in full bloom during this time. Bangalore's roads are lined up with these trees giving shade and shelter during the sunny afternoons! Water colour on handmade paper 14 x 10 inch

First Train!
This is a painting from a scene in my memory of my school days. Come April when the yellow flame trees are in full bloom, my school (Madras Christian College High School-Chetput, Chennai) would be a bed of yellow and the roads lined up with yellow flame! First Train would arrive at Chetput railway station at around 15 mins after the school finished. A few of us would dash to the railway station to catch this train and beat the crowd that followed behind :-) Water color on 220gsm 11.5 x 5 inch

Nostalgia!
Chennai Central railway station, though the portals of this station stream in and out thousands everyday and is the abode for many overnight stays for travellers changing trains. It is an iconic building with a legacy dating back to years. I have been though this many times over the years and always fills me with nostalgia and euphoria when i see this. Been wanting to paint this for a long time. Water color on hand made paper 17.5 x 12 inch.
