Rain tree / 5 o'clock tree

En Plein Air, from the comfort of my balcony last Sunday! the huge tree is called Rain tree or 5 o'clock tree as the leaves close in the evening or on rainy/cloudy days.  The huge tree has beautiful pink flowers which are in full bloom during this time.  Bangalore's roads are lined up with these trees giving shade and shelter during the sunny afternoons!  Water colour on handmade paper 14 x 10 inch

Art Gallery!

Visited Venkatappa Art Gallery next to museum in Bangalore a couple of times, but never painted it.  Painted from my photograph taken last week.  The rapid mushrooming of multi storied buildings will make this diminutive very soon.    Water colour on hand made paper 14 x 10 inch.

First Train!

This is a painting from a scene in my memory of my school days.  Come April when the yellow flame trees are in full bloom, my school (Madras Christian College High School-Chetput, Chennai) would be a bed of yellow and the roads lined up with yellow flame! First Train would arrive at Chetput railway station at around 15 mins after the school finished.  A few of us would dash to the railway station to catch this train and beat the crowd that followed behind :-) Water color on 220gsm 11.5 x 5 inch

Nostalgia!

Chennai Central railway station, though the portals of this station stream in and out thousands everyday and is the abode for many overnight stays for travellers changing trains.  It is an iconic building with a legacy dating back to years.   I have been though this many times over the years and always fills me with nostalgia and euphoria when i see this.  Been wanting to paint this for a long time.  Water color on hand made paper 17.5 x 12 inch.
